One of opera’s most beloved comedies. faced a serious challenge: convincing Emperor Joseph II to approve a work that questioned inherited privilege, social hierarchy, and rights of the ruling class. We’ve brought Mozart, his librettist Da Ponte, the playwright Beaumarchais and the Emperor to our stage. Comedy and magnificent music win out!
